If you love the outdoors and lake Michigan, you’ll love camping in Petoskey. A summer trip your whole family is sure to enjoy.
Growing up, we would explore trails on our friend's and family’s property and set up camp next to a river or small lake. We enjoyed both campground camping and setting up our own camp. We enjoyed spending the weekend outdoors, fishing, hiking, biking, and kayaking. Camping trips always stuck out as a great memory of mine.
If you are an avid camper or want to take a family camping trip for the first time, Petoskey is a great area to do so. A lot of the camping areas being right on Lake Michigan makes for a beautiful and fun time.
Magnus Park: Magnus Park Campground sits on Little Traverse Bay and provides camping for tents, towable vehicles, and motor homes. Bring your dogs, hunt for Petoskey stones, and enjoy the beautiful lake views within walking distance of Downtown Petoskey.
If you have family members that aren’t in for a full-on camping experience, don’t worry. There’s Wi-Fi, showers, restrooms, electric, water, and sewer hook-ups.
Petoskey State Park: Petoskey State Park is located on the north end of Little Traverse Bay. There are two campgrounds available:
Tannery Creek: The Tannery Creek Campground offers beautiful Lake Michigan views, has carry-in boat access, and public restrooms. Bring in your camper, tent, or RV and hang around the fire pit for a weekend you’ll always remember.
Dunes Campground: The Dunes Campground is also located at the Petoskey State Park. With beautiful scenic views of Lake Michigan, you can spend hours searching for Petoskey stones, sitting around the campfire, hiking, biking, or swimming.
Camp Petosega: Whether you want to tent camp, bring a camper/RV, or rent a cabin. Camp Petosega is a fun place to be. There’s a playground, a beach to enjoy, and fire pits to sit around. Restrooms and showers are also available. For more information, click here.
