Made in Michigan Favorites

Before opening The Katydid, a lot of brainstorming went into how we all wanted the store to be developed. A main theme of the store is love for our beautiful state of Michigan, which means that we have tried to incorporate lots of Michigan-Made, local brands and products. Here are a few of our favorites!
- Icebox Ice Cream
These sweet treats are artisanally made in Whitehall, Michigan by a family in 2012. Molly wanted to make ice cream more enjoyable for the adults that were buying from their ice cream truck, which is how Icebox was born. They have many fun flavors, such as Caramel Cashewlicious, Key Lime Pie, and my personal favorite,The Green Dragon. The Green Dragon has an Oreo and Butterfinger layer with mint chocolate chip ice cream. As a family-owned business, we are proud to support other families following their passions as well.
- Grayling Ceramics
Grayling Ceramics is ran by Maura and Shay Church in Kalamazoo, Michigan. They opened in 2014, and now they have two full-time potters. The potters craft beautiful mugs, growlers, bowls, vases, and other home goods. All of their products are food friendly and can be put in a dishwasher or microwave. Their art is designed to reflect the beauty of the Great Lakes area.
- Bloom & Fleur
Bloom & Fleur began as a creative hobby for a Northern Michigan native to express their love for the smells they grew up enjoying. She wanted to show everyone the natural smells of lilacs, lavender, lily of the valley, roses, and many more beautiful floral scents. Stop into The Katydid and smell the light scents of Bloom & Fleur.
- Dave’s Sweet Tooth Toffee
Dave’s Sweet Tooth Toffee began in Detroit, Michigan in 2011. Dave is a retired firefighter, but grew up in the kitchen, cooking and baking. He has various flavors, ranging from peanut butter crunch to dark chocolate cherry. His recipes are simple, but he uses small homemade batches, no machines, and the freshest ingredients for his toffee.
